January 2, 2022 Dinner 2, we were concerned that the kids did not eat enough so we enticed them to go to Uncle Julio’s to get the Chocolate Pinata. We had never been so it was quite the treat. Oh Albert sang Happy Birthday to them even though it was not their birthday and they kept telling him to be quiet. Sorry girls, we will embarrass you for many years to come. 🙂
January 2, 2022 Our family tradition of thanking Labor and Delivery and NICU at Virginia Hospital Center each year of gifts of goodies to thank the nurses at both places for all they did for Curie and Elia was virtual again this year. Still we are grateful as alumnae of NICU all the same and this year sent big boxes of chocolate truffles to each station and tried to call them L&D definitely got theirs, but we are not as sure about NICU this year. As we said last year we want to say thank you not just for what they did then, but for everything they are doing now. Hopefully we can be in person again soon. It is a tradition both girls cherish and tell their schools.

January 29, 2022 The antidote to 3 years of cabin fever is sometimes a staycation at a nearby hotel, but with Erin’s 40th birthday imminent, it has to be somewhere nice. Complimentary champagne, balloon, and fruit from the hotel was an amazing touch the service has been superlative. Happy Birthday, Erin! You are amazing.

February 12, 2022 Some new birds we haven’t captured before, the king fisher and yellow crowned kinglet. We also saw nuthatches, downey woodpeckers, redwinged black birds and a whole host of others that weren’t as in focus or I just missed them. To my photographer friends, why do we take these pictures, what do you do with them. I have hundreds, if not thousands of birds and scenery that quite frankly I am at a loss of what to do with them.

February 15, 2022 When the school does sports day for spirit week the kids don’t really have anything to wear since we don’t really follow sports. Maybe Elia’s old soccer shirt. Curie really got into Haikyuu!! a Japanese anime volleyball show, so much that she got a ball and started practicing some. So when is it sports day and when is it cosplay? Next week is spirit week, we’ll try it out then.
February 15, 2022 Fly Karasuno! For those of you who don’t know,, #10 is Hinata, who is smaller than most players but can jump high and is striving to be the next “little giant” who will take Karasuno High to the finals. #4 is the libero, Nishinoya who is also smaller but that is appropriate for a libero, whose job it is to dig out spikes and keep the ball in play. Both characters are the girl’s favorite characters.

February 22, 2022 It is confirmed, Elia has a buckle fracture in her wrist. She has been a trooper though and Curie is going out of her way to see that Elia is happy. It was a COVID related injury, Elia was hanging on the railing to our steps when the Amazon delivery person came up without a mask. Elia panicked and reached up to cover her own face, lost her grip and fell all of three feet.

March 5, 2022 PIxel 6 Pro, we went to the Wolf Trap trail after missing the Meadowlark Botanical gardens today, without a camera it was so nice to just use binoculars to do some birding – but these three were too tempting. We gave the kids a $1 bounty for each new bird they found, $2 for a hawk. they raised $15 each on top of a $5 Target shopping giving them $20 to play with. LOL

March 6, 2022 Flying kites at Chinquapin – pretty dangerous, Curie let go of a kite, fortunately a tree caught it for us. We strapped the kids in after that. Then a kite got caught in a tree but fortunately a gust of wind sent it back up. And Elia fell again while running.
March 7, 2022 The doctor sent us to an orthopedic who was more conservative and decided to cast Elia’s arm. The growth plates weren’t injured though. We well see in two weeks to seek how it is doing. The girls after their bath/showers.
