In My Youth 1997

In my youth,
I long for a love whose passion burns deeply,
A heart so fierce that I should lose all reason;
I wished for the dream that has no wakening,
A poignant love to move me to tears;
I wanted to forsake the bright of day,
If I could bask in the fierce fires of passion;
Yet day did break and dawn did come,
And the flames of the night gave in to the reason of day;
In the bright morning rays I lie by your side,
In your sleeping face I see truth, and understanding;
I am compelled by your faith, your devotion,
In your eyes love burns bright, burns true;
You sleep silently, vigil unwavering in your commitment,
And I ache with love for you;

Love ever-strong,
Love ever-true,
Love, evermore.
