Seasons Change

July 24, 2021

I have this ache when the weather changes,
From an injury sustained long ago.
Though I forget when life tries to estrange us,
It returns when it rains or begins to snow.

Life seems to be a lot of suffering,
Joy for me is the contrast from the strain.
And when life becomes hard or troubling,
My thoughts of you helps ease all of the pain.

I have fond memories of childhood,
I remember the joy of falling in love.
Perhaps life is simply misunderstood,
And dwelling on pain is a form of giving up.

So I hide this hurt from this life’s long embrace,
Measured only by lines etched upon my face.
