I looked at Google news today,
Another disaster, yet another person shot dead.
Is it better to be callous or broken hearted,
While reading news so stained red.
I just want to hold my daughter,
Fill my bucket if I can,
I want to stop thinking about the troubles of the world,
Stop worrying about my fellow man.
The microwave has stopped working,
The dishwasher no longer dries.
The house is falling apart around me,
And in the news, another person dies.
Another self-centered demagogue,
Another narcissist on a bend.
Is it really the time of Gog and Magog,
Is the world really at an end?
I just want to hold my daughters,
Fill my bucket when I can.
I want to stop thinking about the troubles of the world,
And stop worrying about my fellow man.
