Urban Hiking and Food Hunting: New Orleans Blue Crab. We have great blue crab in the mid-Atlantic, but my childhood is about the New Orleans style of crab and crawfish. In Louisiana, it is about the crab boil where the seasoning is in the meat as opposed to the spice on top of the crab in the mid-Atlantic, where the seasoning is transfered from your fingers. We had great po’ boys, seafood gumbo, beignets, and barbeque. Note, we went to Slidel in Louisiana for the best crab across the Ponchatrain bridge. We ate them in our hotel, poor people.
