I Believe in You

September 5, 2021

I was on the path God had intended,
Or so I thought, and just pretended,
To go on and have my date with destiny.
I thought to myself, “oh how splendid!”
Reveling in life left unattended,
Not knowing that those words could be my elegy.

And so I walked upon that path,
Ravaged by life and its wrath,
Not understanding that life is just suffering.
Unable to let go of the past,
Hating that joy just cannot last,
That change is a part of this life’s sputtering.

There is pain that befalls all of us,
The vain part that is the worst of us,
The kind of thing that lets karma bite us in the ass.
It is best that we are grateful,
Not to dwell upon that which is hateful,
And just appreciate all that has happened in past.

Ignore the wouldas and the shouldas,
Don’t think about what-ifs and the couldas,
Just do the best that you can do.
No matter what in life you choose,
No matter if you win or lose,
Just remember that I believe in you.
