Teacher Appreciation Week

We’ve been telling stories of teachers that have impacted our lives at work for Teacher Appreciation Week. We wrote stories of appreciation and I told of how Mr. Baron, Mr. Antenore, and Mr. Mamer, as a triumvirate molded us to be socially responsible global citizens (and probably kept us out of real trouble since we were rebelling responsibly), and how Ms. Shepard, Ms. Teverbaugh, and Ms. Kenny (from Sierra Vista) led me to write short stories. But the story that PDK International chose to publish on our May 7th, PDK Voices from the Field segment (http://pdkintl.org/voices/  or see below) was about Mr. Patchell who taught me that I was my own person and not someone in the shadows of my sister (and brother, even though he is younger). Please take a read and thank a teacher that made a difference in YOUR life. #thankateacher#teacherappreciationweek #voicesofpdk #makingadifference Continue reading “Teacher Appreciation Week”

Curie Breaks Her First Board

Curie breaks her first board. Curie has been working on her board breaking but as yet had not broken a board. We worked on it earlier in the day and she would bounce her fist on the board instead of hitting past it. We even used a t-shirt on the board to make it not as painful. Then when fooling around in the evening, she was acting out and Albert took the board back out, she cracked right through it without really trying. It was remarkable. Then after taking pictures of the board, they re-enacted the event for the camera.

Chengineering.

Google Night Sight

Geeking out a little on Google’s new Night Sight feature on the Pixel 2. It is supposed to be even more amazing with the Pixel 3. Top left, picture in near darkness, top right same picture with Night Sight. Bottom left I used the Picasa “I’m feeling lucky” post-process the top left picture to get the best image it could get. The bottom right is the same feature applied to the upper right. Pretty amazing.

Great Country Farms 2018

We didn’t go to Great Country Farms earlier in the year because of rain, travel, and illness, but we did go this past weekend. It was cold and there were very few people there. We did have fun though.

Curie EMA Photoshoot

Curie had a photoshoot today. The pictures won’t be available until a lot later, but Erin took a few rogue ones. There is a crazy high kick one in the real pictures. We’ll post when we get them.
