Elia Earns Her White Belt

At EMA you start as a no-belt and have to earn your white belt. We are so proud. Curie is so proud.
Elia is approximately 9 months older than Curie for kindergarten and EMA. Here is Curie with Elia for perspective. That is Curie’s old uniform that Elia is wearing.

Saturday in October

We had planned on going apple picking at Stribling but ended up at Burke Nursery instead. We hav good memories of the place where we had gone before with the Skyline Bright Horizons crew. Everyone gets a pumpkin when you leave. Before we went, we had lunch with Julie at Momo and Poke (go with the Kalhua pig) who took the two pictures in front of the plate glass window.
Matchy, matchy as they say. The girls wore grey Supergirl dresses and boots and at Costco, it turns out Erin can wear XL girls coats too so they all got the same coat. If you look carefully in our family picture Albert is also wearing Super-person attire, a black on black Superman shirt.
We have wanted to have a play date with Agnes, Elia’s friend from Bright Horizons. Yesterday we were able to have dinner with her family at Choolah’s. Everyone loved the handwashing machine. Curie has been friends with Natalie and Chloe since Bright Horizons, we wanted to make sure Elia had the same opportunity to stay friends with her friends. Agnes and Elia loved being together, and Agnes’s brother Linus loved Curie.

Elia September 2019

So Elia starts kindergarten. We pause for a moment and recognize what a big change this is for her. When Curie went to kindergarten Elia cried when Curie got on the bus because she couldn’t get on the bus. Elia was nervous and Curie told Elia that she was nervous when she got on the bus the first time, something she never told us. But Elia was a trooper and had a great first day. Albert wrote in Facebook that on the drive to work that he was sad that Elia wasn’t in the car anymore and that he missed her. Both of us had tears in our eyes as the bus pulled away. Tears of pride and sadness as the girls grow up and continue to grow up.  Continue reading “Elia September 2019”

Hidden Oaks Nature Center

More pictures from our trip to the Hidden Oaks Nature Center, Took the nice camera, can you tell? Elia was actually laughing hysterically but we caught this one in action and it is one of our favorites; and we were able to catch Curie looking at her sister with the big sister face. I found some pictures from five years ago to remind us of how fast it is going.
One day they won’t want to wear the same clothes, but today they are so cute. Oh we saw a deer too. Tanpopo and then the Hidden Oaks Nature Center.

Chengineering, September 8, 2019

Curie got a 922 piece Hogwarts Clock Tower for her birthday that we did not want to disturb, so Elia and Albert free built this doll house out of our Lego box.
The inhabitants of the house (other than the Lego Friends laying on the floor and the secret superhero on the side room (left-hand side of the second picture). Okay, so Elia says the Genies are in love and the Bat Family have a little girl. She put the blonde hair on the other genie, and put short legs and the brown hair on the pink Batman.

Curie’s Eighth Birthday Party!

Curie’s eighth birthday party at Scramble. The theme was Under the Sea, but not the in the Little Mermaid way (that was later for Natalie’s party). We wore Mera from Aquaman and decorated the party accordingly – without Aquaman.
Superman, Wonder Woman, the Incredibles, and Mera it is amazing we have not done Batman/Batgirl. Also three of these were for Curie’s birthday parties.
Curie’s birthday party was in the morning, Natalie’s was in the afternoon, tomorrow morning is Chloe’s.

Elia August 2019

So August for Elia stretches from July 16 to August 15, so though she starts kindergarten in August, it won’t be until her September blog that we’ll write about it. The summer went by so quickly. The days are largely about the different camps at Congo, followed by weekends that we try to make meaningful as much as we can. Elia has grown tremendously and has learned to go from camp to camp and learning with the change. She loved being in Great Adventures even more than being in specialty camps largely because she got to spend time with her pre-school friend Ezra.
