If a purse is a woman’s pockets,
Does that make my pants a pocketbook?
Why are women’s pants pocketless?
If it is to keep them down,
Well, isn’t that an even worse look?
Why do people laugh and point,
Looking at my “man-bag” first?
As for my every-day-carry-all-in-one-satchel,
Is EDC (Every Day Carry)
The new code for a “man-purse?”
Oh, and then fanny packs are back in,
Oops, let me call it a cross-body sling.
And if giant handbags are ridiculous,
To carry all we want to carry,
Is that why cargo pants are even a thing?
Keys, wallet, headphones, and a phone,
Things we have in common.
Knives, flashlights, and pliers (!?),
Hair ties, lip balm, medicine, and lotion,
And credit cards that we have forgotten.
In an effort to make things more equitable,
Hear me out on what I propose:
First, everyone gets to carry a bag,
And dare I say it (yes I do),
That it is only fair, dammit,
Let’s put pockets on women’s clothes.
