There are those who draw the lines in the sand,
And there are those who will cower behind.
And then there are those who must toe that line,
And those who ignore all to take a stand.
I’m jealous of those who can use their voice,
I am frustrated for those who don’t.
I am old enough to give grace to most,
For some may be afraid without a choice:
Some are silent for so they don’t suffer,
Some are just biding for when they will speak.
Silent for the greater good and the meek,
And some are silent to protect others.
Each of us must choose our own conscience,
And decide to make our difference.
