Teenage Years and Fathers’ Tears

Best way to listen to this one at the moment is to start playing the music and read along with the lyrics.

Cy Writes the Music June 27, 2020
Vocal version recorded July 17, 2020 by Albert after many tries. The vocals are not up to task. I think the melody is carried by the violin and so the vocals seem less integrated. In any case it is not finished.
Vocal track sung by Albert recorded July 17, 2020 remixed with the “karaoke” backing track to remove the violins from Cy. Uses same vocal as above, adds a back-up singer from a previous take in the chorus and fades the end. Same compression, reverb, and echo.

-4-

I watched my wife dance with her father
and I could see the look in his eyes.
Were they tears of losing his daughter
or were they tears of joy and pride?

-12-

And as the years go by, I have a daughters,
two of them, of my own,
Little girls of six and eight
Of Nerf guns and a throne

-20-

I hold on to the memories,
helpless to resist
I hope to cherish the love of a teen aged girl.

-25-

I hold on to the memories,
helpless to resist
I hope to cherish the love of a teen aged girl,
when she slams the door in my face.

-32-

I remember them as infants,
sleeping on my chest,
Or holding them late at night,
when they were helpless and distressed

-40-

I’ll remember when they were little girls
All the love in their hearts,
Sitting on laps and reading books
Skipping all the scary parts.

-47-

I hold on to the memories,
helpless to resist
Hoping you remember like I do.

-52-

I hold on to the memories,
helpless to resist
Hoping you remember like I do,
the times that we once shared.

-57-

And I hope to have the dance one day,
After rebellion and return
And understand the tears once shed
as my daughter finds happiness of her own.

-63-

I hold onto these memories
Helpless to resist
Late at night I’ll wonder.

-67

I hold onto these memories
Helpless to resist
Late at night I’ll wonder,
If this is all that is left

-76-

Late at night I’ll wonder,
If this is all that I have left
